1/ Refined Grains (white pasta, bread, cakes and sweets):
Refined grains are low in fibre and high in sugars and gluten, two things that cause of inflammation.
‘Bagels are the worst offenders as they contain both,’ says Melanie Bulger, Nutrition Manager at a2 Milk.
3/ Sugar (refined white sugar and sweets especially)
As we all know, sugar is addictive, damaging and ubiquitous.
‘Foods labeled ‘low fat’ will likely have extra sugar added to compensate. It is added to so many dishes it can be difficult to strip it out completely. Reduce sugar by not adding any at home, avoiding sugary canned drinks and packaged juices will really help. Remember that fruit is nature’s sweet treat,’ says Raw Food Nutritionist Stephanie Jeffs.
