Coco Chanel's Two Major Career Mistakes, According to Karl Lagerfeld
When you think of Coco Chanel, we’ll take a wild guess the words "career" and "mistakes" aren’t what come to mind. Fashion icon, , tweed, and LBD sound more like it, right? Well, not if you ask Karl Lagerfeld, the legendary designer behind Chanel’s powerful fashion house and father of Choupette (the highest paid cat around).
We came across a not-so-recent article posted onVogue ("Karl’s Coco Myth") in which Lagerfeld states why he believes Coco made two major mistakes near the end of her career (quote below).
"The first was when she said, 'Not one man I have spoken to likes a woman in mini skirts'. I think no one dared to tell this 86-year-old lady that miniskirts are great and really sexy," he says. "Number two was when she decided blue jeans were horrible. This was the fashion of the world at that particular moment—it was the '60s. No one wanted to be told by an old lady that miniskirts and jeans weren't chic.
