While there have been regarding who the contestants might be, how many teams this season would have and even how many apartments would be renovated, Channel Nine finally set the record straight, releasing the first official trailer and giving us the answers we've been so desperately waiting for.
The much-anticipated promo features Scotty Cam and the new contestants cruising around St Kilda in a red Kombi listening to I Get Around by the Beach Boys. We get our first glimpse at the five teams as they pull up and spill out onto the footpath in front of the infamous Gatwick Hotel. Out of a record-breaking 45,000 entries here are the ten contestants selected for The Block 2018.
Rumours that Commonwealth Games netball champion Bianca Chatfield (36) and former Melbourne Vixens shooter Carla Dziwoki (35) were going to appear on the show together, have been officially confirmed by Nine. Having retired from professional netball, both were ready for a new challenge. "We were ready for a new challenge, something that we thought would be fun, challenging and an opportunity of a lifetime if we could pull it off," the girls told Homes To Love in a recent interview. Will they shoot hoops on the show? We'll have to wait and see.

After Nine purchased the new Block property in June 2017 it was speculated there might be eight teams this year instead of the usual five. This is because plans submitted to Port Phillip Council for the renovation of - the location where this season of The Block was filmed - stated the 66-room site would be converted into eight.
